Embracing The Suck In Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

Sometime things just don’t go according to plan and that’s ok. Experiencing the adventure is all about embracing the journey and overcoming the obstacles that come your way through out.
Currently I am sitting on the side of the road in Anza Borrego state park in California. We are out here for a one night camping trip and my buddy’s Tahoe just blew a hose not 1 mile into our trail. Stuff like this just happens and having an attitude that can roll with the punches is what keeps moments like this from turning into nightmares.

This easily could have turned into a moment of frustration and could have quickly become a situation that no one wants to be in.
However with our busy lives I think we are all still incredibly thankful to be in a beautiful place like this enjoying some fresh air and some great time with our buddies. I think it’s important to reflect on two things when your spending this much time outdoors.

1. It’s important to try and be prepared for situations like this. Having a simple tool kit on hand can go along way. You can’t be prepared all of the time for every situation but you can be in a better situation to what might come your way.
2. Things are bound to go wrong but if everyone works together things can be overcome quickly and efficiently. It’s important for everyone to have the right attitude and willingness to get their hands dirty.
All in all it took less than 2 hours for us to take the second vehicle up to the nearest auto parts store for the necessary parts, come back and make the repair. With the vehicle back up and running our weekend of adventure is just getting started and we can’t wait to see what the rest of this weekend has in store for us.
Embrace the suck when it comes your way... Besides it wouldn’t really be an adventure if there wasn’t a challenge to overcome would it?
